Delicious - Social Bookmarking for Educators!

I created an account on delicious.com, which is a social bookmarking website that allows individuals, such as  educators, to search for high-quality links using relevant tags. I developed a series of tags surrounding the topic of butterflies and butterfly lifecycles, including links for educators themselves, who may be trying to acquaint themselves with the topic, as well as activities for students, such as butterfly lifecycle Sudoku, an interactive lifecycles assessment game, and a reader's theater script about The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It is a science topic, but several of the links refer to literacy extensions. It will be a great way to keep track of links should I ever teach butterfly life cycles in the future!

Pinterest - Excellent For Educators!

I have been a huge fan of pinterest for several years now, and have been using it to collect education resources for Early Childhood settings (specifically Preschool and Pre-K) for as long as I've had an account. For this course, I've created a board called "ELED 258 - Preschool in the SUMMER and Outdoor Play!" which will fit in nicely with my other seasonally-themed boards. These are curriculum resources that are both seasonally and developmentally appropriate and can fit into the day to day learning in a center based classroom, where the season tends to dictate the kind of learning that takes place.  This board currently contains ideas ranging from inspiration for outdoor play spaces to very specific art and literacy activities that take advantage of the rain and sunlight in the summer months.

Here is my Picasso-style self portrait from Picassohead.com.
This is the website portfolio of Aly Kantor for ELED 258, Summer I, 2013. This space will be used as a dedicated course portfolio as well as a resource for the families of her future students. "Miss Aly" is studying Early Childhood Education at Hofstra University and hopes to use this space to post both assignments and reflections as she completes her course this summer.
